"Alice! I found this commercial fund where I could move my haberdashery, what do I do? I like the location, it's big, maybe too much! Do you think it could be suitable for my shop? And then the entrance hall scares me a bit, too big, I have to think carefully but I don't really know where to start. Can you help me?"
As always with my clients, the first approach is a phone call to get to know each other. It is an important moment for me to have the first clues about what the client wants to achieve and to formulate a proposal that responds to the client's wishes.
After our first phone call I prepared a personalized proposal for Angela and when Angela told me she had accepted it I was very happy! Our journey began with an interview and it was a beautiful moment of exchanging ideas, dreams and emotions. What we took home with the interview was above all the spirit of the store, of HIS future store. Capturing the soul of the shop, who do you want to open up to? How do you want to work?
We took home one mission in particular after the interview: to bring younger people closer to a type of shop that is often seen as a grandma's shop. At that point we started working on the architectural project and the organization of the spaces.
Angela's Shop, an open and welcoming space where customers (of all ages) could first find a person (Angela) ready to help them solve problems, with quality articles, professionalism and above all with a smile.
A mix of styles, a UNIQUE style because it was chosen by Angela, made of different elements.
A MINIMAL imprint that gives that sense of cleanliness, lightness and elegance. The warmth of SHABBY style. The spontaneity of the BOHEMIEN style. The combination of different objects of the VINTAGE style. The mastery of managing many colors of the ECLECTIC style.
We decided together what to keep from the old structure, such as the marble grit floors, the old brick and stone walls, and a layout of the spaces that did not require any type of upheaval for the functions necessary for A.
We worked on the colors starting from the existing shades, from what Angela wants to convey to her public, to the type of goods she will display. We therefore chose to work on a neutral base that meets the desire to have a sober and elegant environment, and which forms the backdrop to the explosion of colors of the yarns and haberdashery.
Angela's shop is more than a shop, I would define it more as "a gallery of small shops", one for haberdashery, one for underwear, the other for yarns, and still one for clothing. The work we did was therefore on the one hand to create the right environment for every corner and for every small shop, the other great work was to keep all these environments together so that they spoke to each other and spoke the same language . In particular, the "square" at the entrance represented for us from the beginning the "showcase space", in which a bit of everything was visible but giving the idea that there is also much more to visit and buy.
Thanks to the research work done together, Angela identified the type of shop she wanted, first of all to work well in an environment tailor-made for her, which would make sales and relationships with customers easy and comfortable. The work also focused a lot on how to communicate Angela's values through the store, values such as openness, professionalism and kindness.
