"We just bought this house, we really like the location, the fact that it is so close to the sea and the garden are ideal for us, exactly what we were looking for. But inside the layout doesn't really work, we don't like the materials and being on the ground floor the house is very damp and cold. What can we do to improve it?"
Ps. A&A is me and my husband ;-)
We worked a lot on our needs. The house is very small but we really liked the location, the proximity to the sea and the small garden. For us it was important to have two bedrooms, a spacious living area facing the garden, and a spacious bathroom, not necessarily with a window.
Furthermore, it was important for us to have a hallway as a filter area so as not to enter directly into the living room. We therefore continued our work on the distribution of spaces until we arrived at the current situation. We then focused on our style and the choice of materials. Finally, for us it was very important to follow the workers to obtain the desired result.
Furthermore, it was very important for us to create a home suitable for children, which is why we chose a livable floor, a tailor-made room and above all we created a perfect bathroom corner for them.
We initially thought of keeping the bathroom in the same position for budget reasons but we didn't like the solutions because we would have had a passageway room, a room that was too large and we wouldn't have had a living room instead. So we decided to move the bathroom to the darkest area of the house, namely the understairs and part of the corridor. For us it was very important to have the perception of a bright and large space despite the few square meters available. We therefore chose to open a large double sliding door between the bedroom and the living room, to put the two environments in maximum contact. We also created a living area overlooking the garden.
The creation of niches to build in the kitchen as well as the TV corner makes the space extremely clean and organised. The main wall thus becomes an element rich in designed and well-proportioned details, where everything has its place.
For us, quality, materials and colors were fundamental elements to work on to obtain the house we wanted.
The house is extremely comfortable, the materials are a pleasure for both sight and touch as are the quality finishes we have chosen. The colors exactly represent our mood. Sleeping in a room with the chosen characteristics is so restful and so satisfying that it is difficult to explain it in words. We are very happy with the choices made.
